Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the questions that we get asked frequently regarding the services provided by the Renewme Fitness Team
-
Unfortunately, medical insurance will not cover our training. Even though most of our trainers are medical professionals, they only work for RenewMe Fitness as Personal Trainers, so medical insurance won't pay. There are some cases where an FSA (Flexible Spending Account) or an HSA (Health Savings Account) will reimburse YOU a percentage of the training, but you still have to pay for the training first. Also, there are some cases where, if you need this training for a medical condition, your accountant might be able to get this expense Tax-Deductible (with a doctor’s note), but again, you’ll still have to pay for the training.
-
The only thing it will cost you is about 90 minutes of your time! So no, there is no charge.
-
You will be billed monthly at the beginning of each month. We accept payment in the form of Check (preferred), ACH, and Credit Card.
-
There are no long commitments or contracts. We bill on a month-to-month basis.
-
Yes, you can cancel at any time and we will reimburse you for any sessions that you have not used.
-
Any missed sessions that were billed and paid for, will be credited to you in the next month's invoice. If you don’t continue training, we will reimburse you, via check. You will never lose a session that you pay for.

We find the best results when clients start training before Physical Therapy ends. This way, we can talk with the Therapist, and compliment what they are doing. This also creates a smooth transition of care from PT to Training.
-
Before we start training, we like to speak with the Physical Therapist about your case. We want to know how you came in, how your body responded to exercise, what cue words work for you, what exercises you like, as well as how you progressed through their program. If you are starting Training during therapy, we can work with the PT to offer complementary programming (Your therapist can focus all their time on gait training and balance, and we can focus on strength training and mobility).
-
Yes, you should continue to exercise with a medical fitness trainer after you have been discharged from physical therapy. It is important to train with someone who fully understands how to work with someone with your condition, your age, or your functional level. Supervised exercise will help you maintain and even progress past your functional levels from when you left PT, by working on your strength, stability, mobility, range of motion, gait (walking), and balance, or any specific goals you may have.
-
Although we share trainer bio’s and give you a snapshot of what each trainer has to offer, we think that we are better qualified to assess your specific needs and match you with the trainer who will be able to partner with you for the best results. This recommendation is based on the trainer’s skill and experience with your condition, their personality, and their availability to train.
-
You will be working with one of our highly skilled medical fitness trainers. Certified by the Functional Aging Institute, our trainers are also highly experienced and licensed in various allied health fields, such as Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy.
-
The Trainer/Client relationship is a collaborative effort in working together to improve your health and reach your goals. As with any relationship it takes time to build and to learn trust. Our extensive assessment process helps us to understand your unique needs and we pair you with who we believe to be the best trainer for you. If, after working with your trainer you are not satisfied we will honor your request and place you with a different highly skilled trainer.
-
There are so many benefits to be had by engaging in structured medical fitness training with a qualified trainer. Frequency and consistency will help you to make physical and neurological adaptations to the training process. If, however, you do decide that training is not for you then follow our cancellation policy at any time.

We are always accepting new clients!
-
Each session is 1 hour.
-
We try to keep our commutes, between clients, to about 30 min or less. We currently train clients in Rockville, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Wheaton, Laytonsville, Germantown, Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village, Olney, Silver Spring, Takoma Park, Kensington, Burtonsville, Laurel, Hyattsville, DC, Arlington, Reston, Vienna, Tysons, and McLean. So if you live within 30 min of any of those, there's a good chance we can train you. If not, call us and we can try to connect you with someone in our network who we know, like, and trust.
-
Our type of medical fitness training is focused on improving functionality safely. Exercise doesn’t need to be painful for you to make progress. We believe in a gradual building of skills to meet your goals.
-
Older adults (55+) and anyone who is at risk of falls should do balance training.
-
For many individuals, having to physically go into a gym is stressful! We remove that stress by coming to you. Our trainers provide expertise and convenience by coming to your home, bringing all necessary training equipment with them, and working with you or your loved one’s schedule.
-
You don’t need to have your own equipment, but if you do have equipment or access to a gym or fitness facility we can use it. We come to you prepared with all of the equipment that you will need for a full workout session. If we think you should buy equipment, we will let you know.
-
Absolutely! We have a “2-person surcharge” if you are sharing the hour with a spouse or friend. If one of you happens to miss the session, we will bill that session at the 1-person rate.
If you and your spouse are at different functional levels, we can still train you both. There are a few different options we can offer, but it’s easier to talk about it on the phone, or at the Initial Consultation.
-
We don’t need much room to work out. A living room, kitchen, dining room, or even bedroom will work. We can also train outside, at a park, or at your gym (if it allows).
-
Yes, we work with anyone, no matter their functional levels, or physical abilities. The more complex the case, the better! We’ve got clients who were wheelchair-bound for 5 years, to be able to walk over a mile with a walker! We’ve gotten people who were bedbound in an assisted living facility, to be able to walk with a walker, go up and down the stairs, and even move back home with their families!
-
We can offer virtual 1-1 training if you need it, but we are taking the necessary precautions to keep you safe during our in-home sessions.
-
To participate in a virtual training session you will need internet access and a smartphone, tablet, or a laptop/computer with a webcam, so we can keep an eye on your form. It’s best if you have about 8-10 feet of space, so you can place the camera on one side, so we can see your whole body.
-
Our training is unique to you and your needs only. Not only do we give you a thorough initial assessment, but we also have a systematic re-evaluation process that we perform on you at the end of each month. This monthly evaluation is shared with you so that you can appreciate the progress that you are making each month. We also use the results to change and update your exercise plan so that you continue to show improvement. We can also offer verbal or hands-on cuing, in real-time, to help correct form to reduce injuries. We will also have fun and engaging conversations!
